#RACHELLE LINDE SERIES#
A series of exciting and variable summer jobs in the environmental education and recreation world eventually led Rachelle back to her love for research. This presentation will explore the contemporary challenges facing the M-KMA and will share some preliminary results.Ībout the presenter: Originally from the Lower Mainland, Rachelle Linde moved to northern BC for the educational opportunities available at UNBC in the Outdoor Recreation and Tourism Management Program. By using a mixed methods approach, this research explores the role of awareness and engagement in safeguarding the M-KMA using interviews and a media review, both of which have informed a public survey. Rachelle Linde, Donald Linde, Shari Dwyer. However, low public awareness and engagement is seen as a threat to the M- KMA’s effectiveness and longevity. Search records by state to find the best match for Thomas Linde. These characteristics were secured in perpetuity through the British Columbian Government’s M-KMA Act in 1998. The Muskwa-Kechika Management Area (M-KMA) in northern British Columbia is globally significant for its size, special resource management, and cultural and ecological values. The tool we propose to develop (provisionally called CAP-BC: Climate Adaptive Planning for British Columbia) will be, to our knowledge, the first development anywhere of a fully contained (data already preloaded), systematic conservation planning tool for climate change. After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the webinar. The goal for this workshop is to co-present our pilot tool, discuss initial results and identify priority research needs in collaboration with Federal, Provincial, Indigenous and NGO land-use planners interested in climate adaptation. Lived In Arlington VA, Chambersburg PA, Herndon VA, Falls Church VA. The core question we will address in partnership with The Nature Trust, Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society and BC Parks Foundation and others is: How can we adapt our conservation plans in BC to minimize the impacts of a changing climate? We are currently developing a ‘proof of concept’ tool for climate adaptive conservation planning in BC. Despite the importance of protected areas (14.4% of BC's land base) and the large projected impacts of climate change on our natural systems, there is current no tool available to plan the establishment of protected areas in a way that is adaptive to future climate change. There is a timely need for solutions-focused research for how best to adapt our business-as-usual practices to minimize our vulnerability to the risks posed by climate change.
